Frequently Asked Online Banking Questions

What do I need to do to start utilizing Online Banking?
First you must be a customer of Northern National. To begin Online Banking, just click 'Enroll' and follow the instructions. In order to process your request, you need to read the Internet Banking Agreement and agree to the terms before the Online Banking Application will be accessible to you. After entering all of the requested information and submitting the application your accounts will be accessible online. Northern National will mail you an Online Banking Application that will need to be signed and returned to us. If we do not receive this signed application within 2 weeks from the date of the letter, your online access will be disabled.

How do I get a password?
Once you enroll for NNB Online you will be asked to create your access ID and password. Your password is case sensitive, 6 to 10 characters, one must be numeric and at least two alphas.

What if I forgot my password or am having trouble signing on?
Call Customer Service at any of our locations or call 877-855-1320 during business hours, and we can assist you by issuing a temporary password. After three unsuccessful log-in attempts, you will not be able to access online banking. You must call the bank to be given a temporary password. Once you are able to access online banking with this temporary password, you must change your password to one of your choice.

How do I change my password?
Once you have selected to Sign On, you can select "Change Password". You will have to enter your current password, and enter your new password twice for verification. Remember, you are the only one who knows this password. We suggest changing your password every few months for security reasons. Your password is case sensitive, 6 to 10 characters, one must be numeric and at least two alphas.

How often are my accounts updated?
Your accounts will be updated after midnight each business day.

How do I transfer money between my accounts?
To transfer funds you should click "Express Transfer". Then click on the account you wish to transfer from, enter the dollar amount, and click on the account you wish to transfer to. Click 'Next' to view your transfer. If the information is correct, click 'Submit', and you will be given a confirmation number. If you wish to schedule a one time or a reoccurring transfer, you need to first access the account you wish to transfer from. Then click on "Transfer"; select either "One time transfer" or "New scheduled transfer". A new scheduled transfer will allow you to set up a reoccurring transfer. Complete all information requested, and follow the instructions.

How soon will my transfer requests be processed?
If it is an Express Transfer, the transfer will process immediately. If it is a Scheduled Transfer, it will be processed the date you specified on your transfer request. No transfers will be accepted if sufficient funds are not available.

What is in place for Online Banking Privacy and Security?
Northern National has online banking security systems and strategies in place to effectively manage any risks of doing business over the Internet. Internet banking uses encryption technology to assure you that your information remains private.

Privacy
We, at Northern, place a great deal of importance in the relationships we work so hard to build. We understand that privacy is important and understand that those who visit our web site may have concerns about the privacy of their nonpublic information on the Internet. As a general policy Northern does not automatically collect customer information from those who visit our web site. Any information that may be collected is used to assist us in returning information from customer-initiated inquiries. At the same time, we want to offer you the array of financial products and services you need to accomplish your financial goals. We believe we can do both through our Privacy Policy.

Northern National Bank respects the privacy of our clients' children and the institution complies with the practices established under the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act. The bank will not knowingly market to or attempt to obtain information or data from children under the age of thirteen.

Security
Northern National Bank has engaged technology experts to ensure that it has state of the art technology to protect your information and transactions, keeping them private and secure as you use the institution's Internet banking system. Through our Online Banking system you may conduct banking transactions, pay bills, and communicate with the us. Accounts cannot be accessed unless you enter your secure Access ID and Password. To protect your Access ID and Password all Online Banking sessions will automatically log off after 15 minutes of inactivity. It is best to exit Online Banking and close/exit your browser when finished using.

Cookies
To provide better security, Northern National may use cookies as part of its Internet connection with you. "Cookies" are small text files placed on your hard drive by some web servers and can only be ready by the server that sent the cookie. Cookies cannot be used to access information on the hard drive or activities on other web sessions. Our web server creates a cookie to facilitate Internet banking activity for each session. The cookie stores certain customer information while the session is in the process; however, we do not collect information through the use of cookies. As soon as the session is ended, the cookie is automatically removed and does not remain on your computer.

Online Applications, Email and Cautions
Email messages sent and received outside of the Internet banking system are not secure, including those sent through "Contact Us" sections of Northern National's home page. Nor are our responses back to you secure when using these systems, therefore we do not send confidential account information to you by email.

Northern National recommends that you use caution when using "consolidation sites." Consolidation sites are Internet sites that offer you the ability to collect all of your personal information on one site. This information would include your personal financial information, web site password, electronic and online banking passwords, and other such information. Do not provide this information unless you are absolutely confident that the site is one you know, have researched, and trust completely. Please be advised that any transaction initiated by a consolidated site using information you have provided is considered by us to be authorized by you, whether or not you're aware of the transaction or authorized it.

Multiple Levels of Data Security
Firewall: A firewall serves as a security gate between the Internet and our network - including the mainframe data. By intercepting Internet data "packets" first, the firewall ensures that only packets permitted by our "rule set" may be passed beyond the public Internet to our secure web commerce server, and ultimately to the Banking application.

Intrusion Detection: Intrusion detection software, running on its own server, unobtrusively analyzes data packets to detect pattern of hostile activity, misuse, or malicious Java and ActiveX applets. The intrusion detection system detects intrusion attempts in real time and responds to suspicious activity.

Network Monitoring: Firewalls and intrusion detection systems are monitored 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. The Internet banking Application and its encrypted data are not available to monitoring personnel.

Application Level Security: Unique user codes and passwords identify authorized account holders. The combined effect of the various security systems allows clients to access only areas permitted through the Internet Banking application.

Northern National has made a commitment to assuring the security of information exchanges through its online systems. The bank maintains electronic and procedural safeguards in compliance with federal standards and provides "secure" Internet use by encrypting the information you submit.
